In this video I show you the general training process for training behavior interruptions and alerts to your service dog. We start with identifying the behavior you want interrupted or alerted to. Examples could be repetitive behaviors like leg shaking, tapping, nail biting, picking etc. or they could be precursors to an escalated medical episode like crying, hands over face, rocking etc. We then teach the dog a specific alert behavior like paws up, chin rest, or nose boop. Once the dog has trained the behavior to fluency, we pair this behavior with the human behavior we want alerted to (also called cue transfer). This video broadly goes over this service dog training framework.

  1. I have regular panic attacks and social anxiety like sometimes for example if i am at a concert or smth and theres a lot of people there my leg starts shaking and if i am in a big croud i feel like throwing up (i have a huge fear of throwing up i almost faint sometimes in fear) i regularly feel like i am gonna faint (i never have) but my parents would probably say i am overreacting if i said i wanted a service dog/needed one i also when i hve a panic attack i usually pinch myself and scratch myself to make me think of smthn else i know tho i would probably only be able to get a emotional support dog bec dont have any medical things

  2. I’m currently having a bad family situation, I want to practice training my older sister’s dog whilst I’m here, but also because I have anxiety and ptsd, and I think that it would help for the time being, and just generally will help take my mind off of things.^^
