We let our cats go out on our balcony. They never jump up on the railing. Instead they look out between the wooden lattice and watch the squirrels and birds that live in a really big tree in front of our deck. It is better than a cat condo and they sleep on the chair cushions or under the tablecloth over the table . They also have three different cat scratching boards which they both use all day long and totally love. Sometimes they sleep on them. They are so well mannered and never scratch anywhere else. We also leave our front door cracked a bit so they can go out on the front porch of our second story apt. They have never peed on anyone’s stuff outside. The neighbors know them and say hi if they are out there. My cats are pretty entertained by their environment…outdoors. They run up and down the stairs pretending to hunt. They never run off but will walk with us if we go to the garbage area.
